On April 28, 2010, Investigators with the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit executed a Search Warrant at 15058
Hwy. 33 East in Blounts Creek. Investigators
and Canine Elza found 52 small marijuana plants, 175 grams of marijuana, 29
grams of cocaine, 2 bindles of heroin, 18 grams of Vicodin, plastic baggies and
digital scales. Investigators
arrested Cody Vance Jones, 19 years of age, of 15058 Hwy. 33 East in Blounts
Creek, Tami Lou Jones, 49 years of age, of 15058 Hwy. 33 East in Blounts Creek
and Terry Juwain Keys, 27 years of age, of 5803 Bonnerton Road in Edward. Cody Jones
was charged with Trafficking in Cocaine,
Trafficking in Opium, Possession of Heroin, Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession
with Intent to Sell Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Cody Jones was confined in the Beaufort
County Detention Center under a $75,000.00 secured bond. Tami Lou
Jones was charged with Possession of
Cocaine, Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver
Marijuana and Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia. Tami Lou Jones was
confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $25,000.00 secured

On April 26, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit executed a Search Warrant at 514 Main Street in Belhaven. Investigators and Canine Elza found a small quantity of marijuana, a marijuana smoking pipe and digital scales. Investigators arrested Daniel Febus, 29 years of age, of 514 Main Street in Belhaven, Walton Ray Jones, 32 years of age, of 491 Spring Creek Lane in Belhaven and Carl Jones, 26 years of age, of 501 Forrest Hill Drive in Goldsboro. Febus was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Firearm by Felon. Febus was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $3,500.00 secured bond. Walton Jones and Carl Jones were charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On April 22, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug
Unit arrested Richard William Shavender III aka Tattoo Rich, 34 years of age,
of 215 East 11th Street in Washington. Shavender was charged with Manufacturing Marijuana and Possession of
Marijuana. Shavender’s
arrest stemmed from Investigators witnessing a marijuana plant growing inside
Shavender’s residence while talking to Shavender’s neighbor. Shavender
was confined was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a

On April 22, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug
Unit served an arrest warrant on Steven Vann Terry, 51 years of age, of 1016
Nicholson Street in Washington. Terry
was charged with Possession with Intent
to Sell and Deliver Cocaine. Terry’s
arrested stemmed from Investigators making a purchase of cocaine from
Terry. Terry was confined was confined

|
On April 21st
at approximately 12:55 a.m., Corporal Jeremy Landeck was patrolling the
Chocowinity area. As Landeck approached
Highway 17 on Bragaw Lane, he saw an SUV leaving the parking lot of a bank. Cpl. Landeck observed the vehicle and no ticed
several driving violations as it pulled onto Highway 17 and headed north. The SUV did not stop for a red light, drove
left of center, and was speeding on Highway 17.
Landeck attempted to perform a traffic stop on Highway 17 near the
intersection with Whichard’s Beach Road, but the driver refused to stop and
sped up to speeds approaching 100 MPH. Cpl. Landeck notified Communications and other Deputies
that he was initiating a chase. The
chase entered into Washington City limits where Washington Police Officers
assisted. A rear passenger jumped from
the vehicle near Highway 264 West and 15th Street Extension. Washington Officers apprehended the subject
as the SUV sped west on Highway 264.
During the chase, Sheriff’s Deputies deployed stop sticks at two different
locations. The Smith was arrested during the chase and held in the
Beaufort County Detention Center on a $3,000.00 secured bond. Myers was arrested on April 23rd
and held on a $55,000.00 secured bond.
Tripp turned himself in on April 25th and held on a $3,000.00

On April 20th, Corporal Walt Zerniak of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office was working his assigned position as School Resource Officer at Southside High School. At approximately 1:30 p.m., he received a Crime Stoppers tip that a student was in possession of contraband. Cpl. Zerniak began an investigation with the assistance of school administrators. During the investigation, a plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance was found in the possession of a juvenile student. Cpl. Zerniak requested assistance from members of the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division to determine if the powder was a controlled substance. Investigators tested the substance with a field test kit. The test showed positive results for the presence of cocaine. While that Narcotics Investigators were at the school,
Elza, a drug sniffing K-9, was brought in to conduct room searches. During the search, Elza indicated on the
possible presence of a controlled substance in a student As a result of the incident, a juvenile was charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Chante Painter, age 17, of Hodges Road in Chocowinity was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds and Shawn Michael Mayo, age 17, of Pearl Street in Aurora was arrested and charged with Assault on a Government Official. locations. The stop sticks flattened at
least two tires on the SUV. The chase
ended on Bell’s Avenue in Chocowinity where the SUV ran into a ditch. The driver and a passenger fled the scene on
foot, and were not apprehended. The SUV
was later reported stolen from a business in Washington. After collecting evidence and conducting interviews, Cpl. Landeck obtained warrants charging Desmond Montrea Myers, age 22, of Cooper Street in Washington with Felony Flee to Elude Arrest; Ricky David Tripp, age 18, of Hoff Lane in Belhaven with Resist, Delay, Obstruct a Public Officer; and Mitchell Stewart Smith, age 22, of Aycock Street in Washington with Resist, Delay, Obstruct a Public Officer. Additional charges are pending against Myers. Smith was arrested during the chase, but Myers and Tripp are still at large. On April 15, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit
arrested Wilbert Oneal Jr., 27 years of age, of 371 Hwy. 99 in Pantego and
Anthony Oneal, 22 years of age, of Hwy. 99 in Pantego. Wilbert Oneal was charged with three counts
of Possession with Intent to Sell and
Deliver Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Anthony Oneal was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver
Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Their
arrested stemmed from a Crime Stoppers complaint that Wilbert Oneal and Anthony
Oneal are selling drugs in the Belhaven and Pantego area. Investigators conducted surveillance on
Wilbert Oneal and Anthony Oneal.
Investigators started making purchasing of crack cocaine from Wilbert
Oneal in the Belhaven area. Investigators and Canine Elza approached Wilbert Oneal’s GMC Denali that was operated by Anthony Oneal at the Hess Gas Station in Belhaven. Investigators conducted a search of the GMC Denali and found 8 grams of marijuana, 6 grams of cocaine and digital scales. Investigators seized the GMC Denali. Wilbert Oneal was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $75,000.00 secured bond. Anthony Oneal was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $10,000.00 secured bond. On March 2, 2010, the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of larceny of a firearm from
a home on Highway 102 in Chocowinity, N.C.
The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence, and
conducted interviews. On
April 19, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained a warrant
charging William Lee Sutton, age 25
of Highway 102 in Chocowinity with Larceny
of a Firearm. Sutton, who was in
jail on unrelated charges, was served and given an additional $5,000.00 secured

On April 08, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit executed a Search Warrant at 21 Camel Drive in Washington. Investigators and K-9 Elza conducted a search of the residence. Investigators and K-9 Elza found approximately forty six (46) grams of marijuana and digital scales hidden inside of a cassette player. Investigators arrested Bryant Boomer, 33 years of age, of 21 Camel Drive in Washington and James Earl Whitney Jr., 34 years of age, of 4574 Pilley Avenue in Pantego. Boomer was charged with three counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and three counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Whitney was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Boomer was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $40,000.00 secured bond. On March 23, 2010, the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Breaking and Entering a
Motor Vehicle and Larceny on Hubs Rec Road in Belhaven. Deputies later responded to a business in
Pantego that was broken into and owned by the same victim. Copper tubing was taken from inside the
business. The Sheriff’s Office began an
investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews. On April 7, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained warrants charging Michael William Polovitch Jr., age 26, of Belhaven with one count of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor Larceny, Felony Breaking and or Entering, Felony Larceny and Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. Polovitch turned himself in on April 8th and was held on a $4,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate David Curtis. Most of the stolen Copper was recovered during the investigation. On April 08, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug
Unit arrested Tyler Smith, 18 years of age, of 2933 Black Jack Simpson Road in
Greenville. Smith was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver
Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Adderall a Schedule II
controlled substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Smith’s
arrest stemmed from a traffic stop. K-9
Elza alerted for the presence of an odor of a controlled substance on the
exterior of an Infiniti operated by Smith.
Investigators searched the Infiniti and found one hundred and thirty
(130) grams of marijuana, digital scales and nine (9) Adderall pills in a
plastic baggie. Smith was confined in the Beaufort County

On April 06, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit
executed a Search Warrant at 400 Washington Street in Washington. Investigators and K-9 Elza conducted a search
of the residence. Investigators and K-9
Elza found digital scales containing cocaine residue and plastic baggies used
to package crack cocaine hidden in the ceiling of the kitchen cabinets. Investigators
arrested Abran Woolard, 31 years of age, of 400 Washington Street in
Washington. Woolard was charge with two accounts of Possession with Intent to
Sell and Deliver Cocaine, two counts of Maintaining a Vehicle to Keep and Sell
a Controlled Substance, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia. Woolard was
confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $80,000.00 secured

On August 19, 2009, the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering
and Larceny from a residence on U.S. Highway 17 North in Washington. The victim reported several items stolen
including a washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator and go-cart. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation,
reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews.
The go-cart was later recovered. On
April 1, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained a warrant
charging Larry O’Neal Woolard III, age
34, of Washington with one count of Obtaining
Property by False Pretenses. The
search for Woolard is on-going. If you

On April 01, 2010, Investigators with the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Otis James Stokes, 47 years
of age, of 214 Heritage Park Drive in Washington. Stokes was charged with Trafficking in Opium. Stokes’
arrest stemmed from Investigators making a purchase of prescription pain pills
that contain opium derivatives from Stokes.
Stokes was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a

On March 31, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug
Unit executed a Search Warrant at 114 Jack Street in Washington. Investigators and K-9 Elza conducted a search
of the residence. Investigators and K-9
Elza found approximately six (6) grams of crack cocaine, forty five (45) grams
of marijuana, digital scales and plastic bags used to package marijuana and
crack cocaine. Investigators
arrested Quincy Marcel Wiggins, 34 years of age, of 114 Jack Street in
Washington and Clyde Chester Wiggins, 45 years of age, of 807 Washington Street
in Washington. They were
charged with Possession with Intent to
Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine
and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Clyde
Wiggins was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000.00
secured bond. Marcel Wiggins was
confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 secured
