On November 29, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office discovered
a firearm had been pawned in Washington by a convicted felon. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation,
seized the firearm, and conducted interviews. On December 6, 2010, Investigator Wesley
Waters applied for and obtained a warrant charging Theodore Ross Lee, age 46, of Arbor Drive in Washington, North Carolina
with one count of Possession of Firearm
by Felon. Lee
turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office on December 17, 2010. He was released on a $5,000.00 unsecured bond

On December 10, 2010, Investigators
with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Kevin Antwan
Greene, 30 years of age, of 120 Running Pines in Chocowinity and Derrick Lamont
Davis, 36 years of age, of 3322 Apartment A Mosley Drive in Greenville. Greene was charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, three counts of
Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, and three counts of Drug
Paraphernalia. Davis was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver
Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of
Drug Paraphernalia. Their arrest stemmed from
Investigators making purchases of crack cocaine and marijuana from Greene. Investigators approached and searched Greene
and Davis while they were in a Mitsubishi Eclipse parked at a Gas Station in
Chocowinity. Investigators and K-9 Elza
found 13 grams of crack cocaine, 15 grams of marijuana, digital scales and
$240.00 in US Currency in the vehicle. Greene was confined in the Beaufort
County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 secured bond. Davis was confined in the Beaufort County

On December 9, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit
served arrest warrants on James Roper, 53 years of age, of 1538 Whootentown
Road in Washington. Roper was charged
with two counts of Possession with
Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ropers’ arrest
stemmed from Investigators making purchases of marijuana of Roper. Roper was confined in the Beaufort County Detention

On December 10, 2010 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to the Southern Bank in Aurora in reference to several suspicious male subjects hanging out near the entrance to the bank. While responding to the call, Deputy David Kendrick was involved in a single vehicle accident on Highway 33 East near Dixon Road in Chocowinity, NC. EMS responded to and scene and transported Deputy Kendrick to the Beaufort County Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. On July 30, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol
Division discovered that a sex offender registered in Beaufort County had
failed to notify the Sheriff’s Office of an address change. The Patrol Division at the Sheriff’s Office
performs routine checks on registered sex offenders to confirm they are living
at the address they have provided. The
Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and conducted interviews. As a result
of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained
warrants charging Terrance Moore,
age 26, of West 8th Street in Washington, NC with one (1) count of
Failure to Register Change of Address as a Sex Offender. Moore was arrested by the Pitt County
Sheriff’s Office on November 30, 2010 and is currently being held in their

On December 9, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office
received a report of a suspicious incident at a residence on Highway 17 North
in Washington, NC. The victim stated two
males came to her residence and one was wearing a badge. The male with the badge told the victim that
he was there to remove mold from her home.
He threatened to issue her a ticket if she did not let him in to spray. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation,
collected evidence and conducted interviews. On December
10, the males returned to the residence and the owner called 911. Deputies responded to the area and detained
the suspects. Investigators were sent to
the scene to conduct interviews. Investigator
Rob Voliva later applied for and obtained Magistrate’s Orders charging Anthony Lee Champ, age 24, of Romney,
West Virginia and Edward Lee Champ Jr,age 41, of Mill Pond Road in Roper, NC with one count each of Attempted Obtaining Property by False
Pretense. Anthony and Edward were
brought before Magistrate Eric Holmes and both held in the Beaufort County

Up to a $1000.00 reward for information that leads to an arrest in Armed Robbery On December
6, 2010 at approximately 7:57 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office
received a report of an Armed Robbery at the Handy Mart on River Road in
Washington. Deputies and Investigators responded to the scene, conducted
interviews, and collected evidence. The victim
reported two black males wearing hooded sweatshirts and armed with a handgun
entered the store demanding money. The suspects fled the scene after
taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. The investigation
is ongoing. If you have any information that may identify the two

On November 30, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit
arrested Willie Eugene Lane, 57 years of age, of 208 East 8th Street
in Washington. Lane was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Crack
Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Lane’s
arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving information that Lane was involved
in the distribution of crack cocaine.
Investigators established surveillance on Lane. Investigators conducted a traffic stop on
Lane and conducted a search of Lane and Lane’s vehicle. Investigators found five dosage units of
crack cocaine hidden in Lane’s sock. Lane was
confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $20,000.00 secured

On December 2, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit
and Probation Officers with Community Corrections conducted a search of Kristopher
Selby, 29 years of age, Shannon Ford, 21 years of age and their residence
located at Room 6 of the Fountain Lodge in Chocowinity. Investigators
found used syringes and rolling papers commonly used to introduce a controlled
substance into the body. Selby and Ford
are currently on probation for drug violations.
Selby and Ford were arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Selby and
Ford were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,500.00

On November 21, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit
arrested Ebony Louise Green, 36 years of age, of 3125 Lot 2 Burgaw Highway in
Jacksonville, NC. Green was charged with Possession
with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Green’s
arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving information that Green was
delivering marijuana from Jacksonville to Washington. Investigators established surveillance on
Hwy. 17 South in Chocowinity.
Investigators witnessed Green traveling north on Hwy. 17 into Beaufort
County. Investigators conducted a
traffic stop on Green. K-9 Elza alerted
on the trunk of Green’s vehicle.
Investigators conducted a search of Green’s vehicle and found two pounds
of marijuana hidden in the trunk. Green was
confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000.00 secured

On
December 5th, 2010 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Sgt. Charles Rose
with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division was patrolling
Highway 33 East in Edward, NC. Sgt. Rose
observed a vehicle that crossed the center line, and Rose ran the car’s
registration plate through NCDMV files.
After learning that the car had an inspection violation, Rose initiated
a traffic stop on Highway 306 South near Grimes Way. During the stop, the passenger in the vehicle gave a false name then fled on foot into a residential area. Deputy Jason Cleary, who had stopped to provide back-up for Sgt. Rose, gave chase. During the foot pursuit, the suspect threw down his hat and coat. Deputy Cleary caught up to the suspect and was able to take him into custody. During a search of the suspect, Deputy Cleary located a loaded .38 revolver in the suspect’s front right pants pocket and digital scales containing white residue in his front left pants pocket. The suspect was identified as Rocky Earl Grimes Jr., age 31, of Grimes Way in Aurora. Grimes was charged with Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Possession of Cocaine, Carrying a
Concealed Gun, and Resist/Delay/Obstruct an Officer. He was held in the Beaufort County Detention
Center on a $21,000.00 secured bond. The

On August 11, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of larceny. Multiple items including assorted jewelry, medication, yard equipment and electronics were reported stolen from a residence on Highway 33 East in Chocowinity. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews. During the investigation a search warrant was obtained and a search was conducted at a suspect’s residence on Jack Street in Washington. Multiple items reported stolen were recovered during the search. On December 2, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained a warrant charging Donna Ree Alligood, age 56, of Jack Street in Washington with one count of Felony Larceny. On December 2, 2010, Alligood was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office. Alligood was held on a $15,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate David Curtis. On October 18, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office
received a report of a breaking and entering and theft at a residence on Cherry
Run Road in Washington, NC. The
Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence and conducted
interviews. On October 20, 2010, Investigator Rob Voliva applied for and obtained warrants charging Khalil Mujahid Al-Amin aka Jerry Lee Andrews, age 35, of North Bonner Street in Washington with one count of Felony Breaking And Entering, one count of Larceny of a Firearm, and one count of Possession of Firearm By Felon. Investigator Voliva also applied for and obtained warrants charging Stephen Bradford Nichols, age 31, of Charlotte Street in Washington with one count of Felony Breaking And Entering and one count of Larceny of a Firearm. Several stolen firearms were recovered during the investigation. Al-Amin and Nichols fled the area and were entered into the national database for wanted persons. Inv. Voliva continued to investigate the pair to determine if they were involved in other crimes in Beaufort County. On October 27th, Inv.
Voliva applied for and obtained warrants on Al-Amin and Nichols for one count each of Felony Breaking and Entering and two counts each of Felony Larceny for a break-in that
occurred on October 9, 2010 at a residence on Cherry Road in
Washington, NC. A stolen laptop computer
was recovered during the investigation. On November 18th, Inv.
Voliva applied for and obtained warrants on Nichols for Felony Breaking
and Entering and Felony Larceny
for a break-in that occurred on October 11, 2010 at a residence on North Boyd
Road in Pinetown, NC. Al-Amin was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by Felon based
on evidence collected during the North Boyd Road investigation. On November 18, 2010, the Beaufort
County Sheriff’s Office received confirmation that Khalil Mujahid Al-Amin was
arrested for multiple Virginia felony charges by the Norfolk Police Department. Khalil Al-Amin is being held in the Norfolk
City Jail with no bond and is awaiting extradition to North Carolina. On November 27, 2010, the Beaufort
County Sheriff’s Office received confirmation that Stephen Bradford Nichols was
arrested for multiple North Carolina and Virginia felony charges by the
Chesapeake Police Department. Stephen
Nichols is being held in the Chesapeake City Jail with no bond and is awaiting

On July 10, 2009 at approximately 1:40 a.m., the Beaufort
County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering and
larceny that had just occurred at a business on Highway 17 South in the
Vanceboro area. Deputies responded and
attempted to locate the suspects.
Evidence was collected at the scene and stolen items were recovered at
the location where a witness had last seen the suspects. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and conducted interviews. Evidence collected at the scene was submitted to the NC State Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab in Raleigh for DNA testing. After receiving the results of the tests, Investigator Karen Ball with the Sheriff’s Office applied for and obtained warrants charging Jonathan Paxton Jones, age 24, of 170 Nelson Farm Road in Chocowinity, NC and Eric Adam Jackson, age 20, of 11510 Highway 17 North in Vanceboro, NC with one count each of Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny, and Larceny of a Firearm. Jackson turned
himself in at the Beaufort County Magistrate’s Office on November 19th
and was held on a $10,000.00 secured bond.
