On November 30, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted armed robbery that occurred at a residence on Trails End North in Washington.  The victim stated that a black male entered the residence armed with a long gun and demanded the keys to her vehicle.  The victim struggled with the suspect and was able to close and lock the door after forcing the suspect out.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.

            As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained warrants charging Javores Cortez Williams, age 22, of Trails End North in Washington, NC with one(1) count of Attempted Armed Robbery and one(1) count of Damage to Personal Property.  Williams was arrested by the Greenville Police Department on February 5, 2010 and was held at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond set by a Pitt County Magistrate.

On February 28, 2010 at approximately 11:08 p.m., Sgt. Charles Rose was patrolling in the Edward area of Beaufort County.  Sgt. Rose observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of Labor Camp Road and checked the vehicle’s registration.  After learning that the car had a fictitious plate, Rose performed a traffic stop.

          During the stop, liquid methadone was recovered from the vehicle.  As a result, Rose arrested Derryck Anthony Cutler, age 36, of Labor Camp Road in Edward.  Cutler was charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.  The driver of the vehicle, Sylvester Miller, age 53, of Bayboro was charged with Driving While License Revoked.  Cutler was released on a $500.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Eric Holmes.

On January 7, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a home invasion robbery that occurred on Wheat Patch Road in Belhaven NC.  The Sheriff’s Office began and investigation and conducted interviews.

          On January 22, 2009, Investigator Robert Gaskins applied for and obtained a warrant charging Allen Thomas Mobley, age 19, of Hideaway Road in Belhaven with First Degree Burglary and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.  Attempts to serve Mobley locally were unsuccessful.  Mobley was entered into the National Crime Information Center files as a wanted person. 

          On February 25, 2010, Mobley was arrested by the Fredericksburg Police Department in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  He is being held without bond while he awaits extradition back to Beaufort County.

On January 19, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a breaking, entering and larceny occurred at a business on Whootentown Road in Washington, NC.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence and conducted interviews.

          On February 12th, Investigator Rob Voliva applied for and obtained warrants charging Jimmie Randal Ballance, age 22, of NC Highway 32 North in Roper, North Carolina with one felony count of Breaking and Entering, one count of Larceny After Breaking and Entering, three counts of Larceny By Employee, and two counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense.  Ballance was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on February 24th.  He was brought before a Magistrate and released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

On January 16, 2010 at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential fire on Mary’s Chapel Church Road in Aurora, NC.  The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department reported that the fire appeared suspicious.  The State Bureau of Investigation Arson Unit was called in to assist.  Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office and the SBI reviewed physical evidence and conducted interviews.

On February 22, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained warrants charging James Norwood Depner Jr., age 32, of Mary’s Chapel Church Road in Aurora with Fraudulently Burning a Dwelling and two counts of Insurance Fraud.  Melissa Stilley Cahoon, age 30, of Toler Road in Ernul was charged with Accessory After a Felony and Insurance Fraud.

Depner and Cahoon turned themselves in on February 22, 2010.  Depner was released on a $5,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Donald Sadler.  Cahoon was released on a $2,500.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Bruce Smith.

On February 18, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit executed a Search Warrant at 2656 Highway 171 in Washington.  Investigators and K-9 Elza conducted a search of the residence.  Investigators and K-9 Elza found 130 grams of cocaine, 500 grams of marijuana, 80 dosage units of ecstasy, digital scales, plastic baggies and $6853.00 in US currency.

Investigators arrested Derek Harris, 31 years of age, of 2656 Highway 171 in Washington, Tylanda Mitchell, 31 years of age, of 2656 Highway 171 in Washington, Doylene Stanley, 36 years of age, of 118 Crawford MHP in Chocowinity, Renardo Langley, 26 years of age, of 1202 Slatestone Road in Washington and Clifton Smith, 30 years of age, of 81 Jasmine Drive in Chocowinity.

Harris, Mitchell, Stanley and Langley were charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Ecstasy and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Smith was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Harris was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $155,000.00 secured bond.

Mitchell, Stanley and Langley were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 secured bond.

Smith was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000.00 secured bond.

On February 15, 2010, Beaufort County Crime Stoppers received a tip on the location of Adam Christopher Simpkins, 24 years of age, of 301 Washington Street.  Simpkins had been wanted by the North Carolina Highway Patrol since June 29, 2009 for Second Degree Murder. 

Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Days Inn room 220 on Carolina Avenue in Washington and took Simpkins into custody.  Ronald Bullock Jr, 19 years of age, of 101 south Asbury Church Road in Washington and Dashonah Harris, 19 years of age, of 904 Van Norden Street in Washington were located in the room with Simpkins.  After Simpkins’ arrest Deputies found marijuana and equipment used for manufacturing crack cocaine. 

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit were called to the scene.  After obtaining a search warrant and completing a search of the room Investigators seized marijuana, cocaine and the equipment used for manufacturing crack cocaine. 

Simpkins, Harris and Bullock were charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Simpkin’s was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,000,000.00 secured bond.

On February 20, 2010 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Sgt. Kasey Neal with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office performed a vehicle stop on Gilead Shores Road in Blounts Creek, N.C.  The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle operated by a suspect in a recent domestic dispute and was being operated in a careless and reckless manner.

          While speaking with the driver, Sgt. Neal developed a suspicion that he was impaired.  During the stop, Sgt. Neal performed a pat-down frisk and located a paper bindle containing an off-white powdery substance consistent with heroin.  Luther Paul Lewis, age 32, of Gilead Shores Road was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While Impaired.  Lewis was transported to the Magistrate’s Office where he was released on a $5,500.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Jasper Mills.

On August 11, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a break-in on Highway 33 East in Blounts Creek N.C.  The victim reported that an outbuilding had been entered and an ATV had been stolen.  The Sheriff’s Office collected evidence and began an investigation.

          On August 12th, Deputy Royce Hamm was patrolling the Edward area and observed an ATV being operated on the roadway that matched the description of the stolen ATV.  Deputy Hamm attempted to stop the ATV using his emergency equipment, but the operator fled into the woods.  Deputy Hamm searched the wooded area and located the stolen ATV off Highway 33 near the intersection with Highway 306 South. 

          After conducting interviews and reviewing evidence, Deputy Hamm applied for and obtained warrants charging Robert Earl Blount III, age 19, of Bonnerton Road in Edward, N.C. and Ryakeem Devon Blount, age 18, of Ideal Way in Edward, N.C. with Felony Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny.  Robert Blount was also charged with Misdemeanor Flee to Elude Arrest.

          Ryakeem Blount was arrested on August 19th by the Aurora Police Department.  He was later released on a $2500.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Jasper Mills.  Robert Blount III was arrested on February 19, 2010 as a result of a Crime Stoppers tip.  He was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $17,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Mills.

On September 1, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report indicating that a Washington church had been defrauded.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence and conducted interviews.

          On February 2, 2010, Investigator Rob Voliva applied for and obtained a warrant charging Marlo Germain Hines, age 33, of Dunbrook Drive in Greenville, North Carolina with Obtaining Property False Pretense.  Hines was arrested by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office on February 19th.  Hines was brought before the Magistrate and released after posting a $10,000 secured bond.

On February 11, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit served indictments on Steven Lee Ward, 54 years of age, of 224 Willie Drive in Washington.  Williams was charged with three counts of Possession with intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine.

Ward’s indictments stemmed from Investigators making purchases of cocaine from Ward.  Ward was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $7,000.00 secured bond.

On February 09, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Billy June Williams, 51 years of age, of 8041 Railroad Street in Pantego.  Williams was charged with Possession with intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Investigators received information that Williams was transporting heroin from Pitt County into Beaufort County.  Investigators established surveillance and witnessed Williams traveling east on Highway 264 at the Pitt and Beaufort County Line.  Investigators conducted a traffic stop on Williams.

Canine Elza gave a positive alert for the presence of a controlled substance on the exterior of the vehicle.  Investigators conducted a search of the vehicle and found ten (10) bindles of heroin in Williams’ pocket.

Williams was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $5,000.00 secured bond.

On February 14, 2010 just before 10:00 p.m., Beaufort County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call on North Fifth Street in Aurora, NC.  A resident reported witnessing the break-in of drink machines outside the Piggly Wiggly.  A description of the suspect was given.  A Deputy that was near the scene arrived to find a man fitting the caller’s description near several machines that were damaged.   The suspect was detained and an investigation began. 

Clifton Bryce Chambers, age 39, of Harrison Road in Williamston was later arrested and charged with four counts of Misdemeanor Breaking Into a Coin Operated Machine, and six counts of Damaging a Coin Operated Machine.  Chambers was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $10,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Donald Sadler.

          On February 2, 2010, Investigator Wesley Waters applied for and obtained warrants charging Ashton Jones, age 26, of Whitehurst Road in Blounts Creek; Christopher Sherbert, age 32, of Brotherhood Lane in Stokes; and James Ryan Kennedy, age 19, of Driftwood Drive in Blounts Creek with two counts each of Felony Breaking and Entering, two counts each of Felony Larceny, and two counts each of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.

          On February 4, 2010, Jones was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $15,000.00 secured bond for these and other charges.

          On February 9, 2010, Sherbert turned himself inand was released on a written promise.  Kennedy turned himself in on February 11th and was released on a $5,000.00 secured bond.

      On November 27, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a stolen vehicle report.  Cornerstone Family Worship Center in Washington reported a church van was stolen from their parking lot.  On November 29, 2009, the van was recovered in Greenville by the Greenville Police Department.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews. 

On February 10, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained a warrant charging Kevin Michael Brown, age 19, of Paula Lane in Bath with one count of Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.  Brown was arrested on February 10, 2010 and released on a Written Promise to appear in Court by Magistrate Jasper Mills.

On February 08, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit served Pitt County arrest warrants on Jamale Stilley, 26 years of age, of 18980 Hwy. 33 East in Edward, Tandric Tyre, 31 years of age, of 1085 Peedtown Road in Aurora and Lee Anne Hooker, 23 years of age, of 1085 Peedtown Road in Aurora while they were in Beaufort County District Court.

They were charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin and Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine.

Investigators searched them at the time of their arrest and found heroin bindles in Hooker’s purse.  Hooker was charged with an additional Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Hooker was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $105,000.00 secured bond.

Stilley and Tyre were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 secured bond.

On February 04, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Jamale Stilley, 26 years of age, of 18980 Hwy. 33 East in Edward, Tandric Tyre, 31 years of age, of 1085 Peedtown Road in Aurora and Samuel Davis, 41 years of age, of 192 Peele Road in Aurora.

Stilley was charged with three counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin, Possession of Heroin and four counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Tyre and Davis were charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Their arrest stemmed from Investigators making purchases of heroin from Stilley.  Investigators conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Davis and occupied with Stilley and Tyre.  A small quantity of heroin and drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle.

Stilley was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $40,000.00.

Tyre was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $12,000.00 secured bond.

Davis was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $10,000.00 secured bond.

On February 05, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit served arrest warrants on Tammy Williams Ebron, 41 years of age, of 516 Simmons Street in Washington.  Ebron was charged with four counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine.

Ebron’s arrest stemmed from Investigators making purchases of crack cocaine from Ebron.  Ebron was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $30,000.00 secured bond.

On November 6, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Breaking and Entering and Larceny at a home on Dogwood Lane in Blounts Creek, NC.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and conducted interviews.  During the investigation, two search warrants were obtained and executed at residences on Elm Lane and Whitehurst Road in Blounts Creek. Items taken during the break-in were recovered during the searches.

          On February 2, 2010, Investigator Wesley Waters applied for and obtained a warrant charging Ashton Jones, age 26, of Whitehurst Road in Blounts Creek with one count of Felony Breaking and Entering, one count of Felony Larceny, and one count of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.

          On February 4, 2010, Jones was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $15,000.00 secured bond for these and other charges.

On December 13, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a robbery that occurred at a residence on Camel Drive in Washington.  The victim stated that he was assaulted and his wallet was taken.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.

            As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained a warrant charging David Ray Whitfield Jr., age 20, of Family Lane in Greenville, NC with one(1) count of Common Law Robbery.  Whitfield turned himself in on February 5, 2010 and was held at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.

On December 14, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Breaking and Entering and Larceny on Peele Lane in Washington.  A rental property was broken into and a refrigerator and carpet were stolen.   The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews.

On February 5, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained a warrant charging Matthew Lane, age 55, of Vermont Avenue in Washington with one count of Felony Breaking and or Entering and one count of Felony Larceny.  Lane turned himself in on February 8th and was released on a Written Promise to appear in court by Magistrate Jasper Mills.  The stolen refrigerator was recovered during the investigation.

On December 6, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle and Larceny that occurred at a residence on Highway 264 West in Washington.  The victim reported a rifle stolen.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.

            As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained warrants charging Rashad Pridgen, age 21, of Cody Road in Washington, NC with one(1) count of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, one(1) count of Larceny of a Firearm, and one(1) count of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. 

            Pridgen was arrested on February 7, 2009 by the East Carolina University Police Department on the school’s campus.  A Crime Stoppers tip led to his arrest.  He was held on a $15,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Smith.

On February 5, 2010, Deputies with the Patrol Division at the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Kemp’s Recycling in Vanceboro NC in reference to persons trying to sell stolen property.  Upon arrival, Deputies spoke to the owner of the stolen metal who stated that the property was taken from a farm he owned in Craven County.

            After conducting interviews and reviewing evidence, Sgt. Jeremy Hewitt arrested Brandon David Waller, age 28, of Barnes Drive in Chocowinity and Sarah Rebecca Waller, age 31, of Barnes Drive in Chocowinity.  The Waller’s were both charged with Attempting to Obtain Property by False Pretenses.  They were held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on $1,000.00 secured bonds.

On February 03, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Rodney Putney, 20 years of age, of 630 Washington Street in Washington and Deequan McKinney, 19 years of age, of 702 Boston Avenue in Washington.

They were charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine and Possession of Ecstasy.

Their arrest stemmed from Investigators conducting a traffic stop on a Volvo operated by Putney.  Canine Elza alerted on the Volvo for the presence of a controlled substance.  Investigators conducted a search of the Volvo and found two grams of crack cocaine, three grams of marijuana and one ecstasy pill.

 They were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000.00 secured bond.

On February 01, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Nashawn Whitfield, 20 years of age, of 4335 Lake Ridge Drive in Raleigh, Damon Whitfield, 35 years of age, 415 Hackney Avenue in Washington and Jessie Ray Wilson, 21 years of age, of 807 West 13th Street in Washington.  They were charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

  Their arrest stemmed from a complaint that a white Lexus was riding around in the Washington area selling drugs.  Investigators found the white Lexus and conducted a search.  Investigators and Canine Elza found approximately 13 grams of marijuana and a marijuana blunt.

  They were released under a $500.00 unsecured bond.

On November 30, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted armed robbery that occurred at a residence on Trails End North in Washington.  The victim stated that a black male entered the residence armed with a long gun and demanded the keys to her vehicle.  The victim struggled with the suspect and was able to close and lock the door after forcing the suspect out.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.

            As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained warrants charging Javores Cortez Williams, age 22, of Trails End North in Washington, NC with one(1) count of Attempted Armed Robbery and one(1) count of Damage to Personal Property.

            Williams is still at large. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Javores Williams, please call the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at (252)946-7111 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 252-974-6400.  Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1,000.00 reward for information leading to his arrest.  Callers do not have to give their name to receive a reward.

        On February 2, 2010 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Detention Officer Richard Crandall was working in the Beaufort County Detention Center.  While delivering linens to the cell blocks, an inmate spat in Crandall’s face and on his back.  Crandall contacted a Patrol Deputy and filed a report about the incident.

          As a result, inmate Steven Jackson, age 23, of Windley Road in Washington, NC was charged with Malicious Conduct by Prisoner and Assault on a Government Official.  Jackson was served and held on a $6,000.00 secured bond for the new charges.  At the time of the assault, Jackson was being held in the Detention Center awaiting commitment to the Department of Corrections for a recent conviction.

On January 19, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Carl Wayne Waters, 34 years of age, of 1548 Beavers Dam Road, Robert Riddick 25 years of age of 154 Waters Road in Pantego and Theresa Reddick, 44 years of age, of 154 Waters Road in Pantego. Carl Wayne Waters and Robert Riddick were charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Theresa Reddick was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 Their arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving complaints that drug use and distribution was occurring from a residence located at 154 Waters Road in Pantego.  Investigators conducted surveillance and stopped Carl Wayne Waters leaving from the residence.  Investigators found crack cocaine in Carl Wayne Waters’ pocket.

Investigators responded to the residence and made contact with Robert Riddick and his mother Theresa Reddick.  Theresa Reddick admitted to Possessing a small quantity of marijuana.  Investigators conducted a search and found numerous plastic baggies containing crack cocaine residue.

Carl Wayne Waters and Robert Riddick were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,500.00 secured bond.

          Theresa Reddick was released under a $500.00 unsecured bond.

   On August 31, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit served arrest warrants on Shawn Gilbert Credle, 20 years of age, of 325 W. 9th Street in Washington and Deequan McKinney, 18 years of age, of 702 Boston Avenue in Washington .  Credle was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  McKinney was charged with three counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Their arrest stemmed from Investigators making undercover purchases of marijuana and cocaine from Credle and McKinney.  Credle was detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $10,500.00 secured bond.  McKinney was detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center under an $8,000.00 secured bond.On July 28, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual assault that occurred on Jack Street in Washington NC.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.  Evidence in the case was sent to the NC State Bureau of Investigations Lab in Raleigh for analysis.

     On January 28, 2010, Investigator Wesley Waters applied for and obtained a warrant charging Carol Julius Collins Jr., age 50, of Jack Street in Washington, NC with one count of Second Degree Rape.  On January 31, 2010, Collins was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $15,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Jasper Mills.
