On March 4, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny that occurred at a residence on River Road in Washington, NC. The victim reported several items stolen including firearms. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews. As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained warrants charging Joshua Crowley, age 21, of River Road in Washington with one(1) count of Felony Breaking and Entering and one(1) count of Larceny of a Firearm. A warrant was also obtained on Brenda Lawrence, age 39, of River Road in Washington for one(1) count of Obtaining Property by a False Pretense. Crowley was arrested on March 28, 2010 and placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Holmes. On January 16, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received
a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny that occurred at a residence on
Bonnerton Road in Edward, NC. The victim
reported several items stolen including jewelry. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation,
collected evidence, and conducted interviews. As a result
of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained
warrants charging Robert Earl Blount III,
age 20, of Bonnerton Road in Edward and Jeremy
Tetterton, age 18, of Highway 33 East in Edward with one(1) count each of Felony Breaking
and Entering and one(1) count each
of Felony Larceny. Blount
was served at the Beaufort County Detention Center where he was already
incarcerated for unrelated charges. He
was held on an additional $10,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Smith. Tetterton turned himself in on March 25, 2010

On January 15, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny on Bonnerton Road in Edward, NC. The victim reported that someone broke into two different buildings used for storage and stole multiple items including scrap metal, bathroom appliances, DVD’s, and an aluminum boat. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews. During the investigation it was discovered that the items stolen were sold in Pamlico County. On March 16th, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained warrants charging Caroline Louise Hughes, age 19, of Alliance in Pamlico County, Ian Nathaniel Doolittle, age 26, of Grantsboro in Pamlico County and Stormy Yvonne Meadows, age 28 of Grantsboro in Pamlico County with two counts each of Felony Breaking and or Entering and two counts each of Felony Larceny. The warrants were served with the assistance of the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office. On March 23rd, Doolittle and Meadows turned themselves in and were taken in front of the Pamlico County Magistrate. Doolittle received a $2,000.00 secured bond and Meadows received a Written Promise to appear in court. On October
29, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of fraud from a recycling business in
Chocowinity. The business reported that
a customer changed a weight ticket in order to receive extra money on two
different occasions. The Sheriff’s
Office began an investigation, conducted interviews, and collected
evidence. On March 3, 2010, Investigator Wesley Waters applied for and
obtained a warrant charging James Kelly
Lucas Sr, age 42, of Dixon Road in Chocowinity, NC with one count of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses and
one count of Attempt to Obtain Property
by False Pretenses. Lucas turned himself in at the Beaufort County Sheriff’s
Office on March 12th. He was
held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $5,000.00 secured bond set by

On February
26, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen
vehicle on the Hill Road in Chocowinity. The vehicle was later located at a salvage
yard on Highway 17 South in Vanceboro. The
Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, conducted interviews, and collected
evidence. On March 3, 2010, Investigator Wesley Waters applied for and
obtained a warrant charging Bobby
Brandon Woolard, age 35, of Old Blounts Creek Road in Chocowinity, NC with Obtaining Property by False Pretenses and
Misdemeanor
Larceny. On March 9th, Woolard was arrested by the Sheriff’s
Office Patrol Division. He was held in
the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $3,000 secured bond set by Magistrate

On January 6, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received
a report of a Burglary that occurred at a residence on Raccoon Run in
Washington, NC. The victims reported
that several items were stolen from their residence at night while they slept. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation,
collected evidence, and conducted interviews. As a result
of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained a
warrant charging Rashad Pridgen, age
21, of Cody Road in Washington, NC with First-Degree
Burglary, Felony Larceny, and Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle. On March 11th,
Pridgen was served at the Beaufort County Detention Center where he was already
in custody. He was given an additional

On January 1, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received
a report of a Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle and Larceny that occurred
at a residence on VOA Road in Washington.
The victim reported several items stolen including a GPS system. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation,
collected evidence, and conducted interviews. A search warrant was served at a residence on
Cody Road in Washington during the investigation. As a result,
Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained a warrant charging Rashad Brandon Pridgen, age 21, of Cody
Road in Washington, NC with Felony
Breaking or Entering, Felony Larceny,
and Breaking and Entering of a Motor
Vehicle. On March 11th,
Pridgen was served at the Beaufort County Detention Center where he was already
in custody. He was given an additional

On January 21, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol
Division discovered that a sex offender registered in Beaufort County had
failed to notify the Sheriff’s Office of an address change. The Patrol Division at the Sheriff’s Office performs
routine checks on registered sex offenders to confirm they are living at the
address they have provided. The
Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and conducted interviews. As a result
of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained
warrants charging Terrance Moore,
age 26, of Sandpointe Drive in Washington, NC with one (1) count of
Failure to Register Change of Address as a Sex Offender. Moore turned himself in on March 11th

On
December 17, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of larceny
from a mechanic shop on Highway 33 East of Chocowinity. The victim reported that someone stole a 1969
Ford engine stored on the property. The
Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted
interviews. The engine was recovered
during the investigation. On
March 5, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained a warrant
charging Teddy Jay Brown, age 32, of
Wharton Station Road in Washington with one count of Felony Larceny and one count of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. Brown turned himself in on the same day and

On March 8, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office
assisted Beaufort County Animal Control with an Animal Cruelty investigation
involving horses. Investigators with the
Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for three properties in the Aurora
area to search for animals and assess their health and living conditions. The search warrant was served on the evening
of March 8th with the assistance of Beaufort County Animal Control,
Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control, the Humane Society of the United
States, and several local volunteers with equine experience. The search
was completed on March 9th.
As a result of the search four (4) dogs were seized by Beaufort County
Animal Control and sixteen (16) dogs were turned over to the Humane Society by
the property owner. Sixteen (16) horses
were seized and one horse was euthanized at the scene by a veterinarian. On March 11,
2010, Investigator Wesley Waters applied for and obtained Criminal Summonses
charging Ashley Bonner Daniels, age
74, of Jarvis Landing Road in Aurora, NC with six counts of Misdemeanor Cruelty to Animals. Daniels was served later that evening. The investigation is on-going and additional

On March 03, 2010, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office
Narcotics Unit arrested Ethan Casey Sparrow, 18 years of age, of 324 Respess
Road in Pinetown, Robert Tyler Hodges, 18 years of age, of 102 Arrowhead Trail
in Washington and Justin Michael Burbage, 17 years of age, of 117 Deer Run
Drive in Belhaven. They were charged
with Possession with Intent to Sell and
Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Their arrest stemmed from a traffic stop. K-9 Elza made a positive alert for the presence of odor of a controlled substance on a vehicle that Sparrow was driving. Hodges and Burbage were passengers in the vehicle. Investigators searched the vehicle and found eight grams of marijuana, digital scales, a marijuana grinder and plastic bags used to package marijuana. On February 16, 2010,
the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office noted that a registered sex offender
failed to return their bi-annual address verification letter. The address verification letter is sent by
certified mail. Sex offenders are
required by state law to return their address verification letter within three
business days. The Sheriff’s Office began
an investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews. On
March 3, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained a warrant
charging Tony James Little, age 41,
of West 11th Street in Washington with one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Little was in custody on unrelated charges
and served the same day. Little received

On March 2, 2010, at the request of the Beaufort County Schools Superintendent
the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office
Drug Unit and K-9 Elza assisted School Resource Officer Charnita Ricks with a
drug and safety sweep of Northside High School. K-9 Elza
gave a positive alert for the presence of an odor of a controlled substance on
a Chevrolet truck that was parked in the parking lot of Northside High School. The owner was identified as Benjamin Bowen
Brooks, 18 years of age, of 147 Bowen Road in Bath. Investigators conducted a search of the
Chevrolet truck and found a small quantity of marijuana, marijuana smoking
pipe, metal knuckles and a Marlin 22 caliber rifle. Brooks was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Possession of a Firearm on Educational
Property and Misdemeanor Possession of a Weapon on Educational Property. Brooks was confined in the Beaufort
County Detention Center under a $5,000.00 secured bond. K-9 Elza gave a positive alert for the presence of an odor of controlled substance on a book bag located in a classroom. The owner of the book bag was identified as Irvin Jesus Morales, 16 years of age, of 17 Windley Canal Road in Pantego. Investigators
conducted a search of the book bag and found a serrated hawk bill knife and
seven (7) empty White Owl flavored cigar tube containers. The White Owl cigars are commonly used to
make marijuana blunts/cigars. The White
Owl tube containers are commonly used to package or conceal a controlled
substance. Morales was
arrested and charged with Misdemeanor
Possession of a Weapon on
Educational Property. Morales was
confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,000.00 secured
