On May 13, 2010, the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a break-in and larceny on
Hollis Drive in Blounts Creek, NC. The
victim reported several liquor bottles containing alcohol and a firearm
stolen. The Sheriff’s Office began an
investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews. On
May 21, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained warrants
charging Steven Lane Inman, age 19,
of Hollis Drive in Blounts Creek with one count of Felony Breaking and or Entering, Felony Larceny, Larceny of a Firearm and Possession of Firearm by Felon.
Inman turned himself in on May 21st and was held on a $25,000.00 secured
bond set by Magistrate Jasper Mills. The
handgun and most of the liquor bottles were recovered during the investigation.

On August 19, 2009, the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering
and Larceny from a residence on U.S. Highway 17 North in Washington. The victim reported several items stolen
including a washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator and go-cart. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation,
reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews.
The go-cart was later recovered at a local pawn shop. On April 1, 2010, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and
obtained a warrant charging Larry O’Neal
Woolard III, age 34, of Washington with one count of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. On May 6, 2010, Woolard was arrested in Carteret County by the Morehead City
Police Department. Woolard is being held
in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000.00 secured bond on this

On July 6, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received
a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny that occurred at a residence on
Williams Drive in Washington, NC. The
victim reported several items stolen from a storage shed located behind his
residence. The Sheriff’s Office began an
investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews. As a result
of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained
warrants charging Matthew Lane, age
55, of Vermont Avenue in Washington, NC with one(1) count of Felony
Breaking and Entering, one(1) count of
Felony Larceny, and one(1) count of Obtaining Property by a False Pretense. Lane turned himself in on May 18,
2010. Lane was released on a $2,500
unsecured bond set by Magistrate Smith.

On May 15, 2010 at
approximately 9:00 p.m., Deputy Jason Cleary with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s
Office Patrol Division was on patrol in the Sidney Crossroads area. Cleary observed a suspicious vehicle parked
on Marslender Road and recognized the driver as someone with an active Order
for Arrest. Cleary set up surveillance
on the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop when the vehicle drove onto Highway
99 South. Deputy Cleary arrested the driver, Andrew James Farrell, age 27, of Robert Cox Road in Bath, on the
outstanding OFA and conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, Cleary recovered a
rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine, five pills, and assorted drug
paraphernalia. Farrell was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Misdemeanor
Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Farrell was held on a $500.00 secured bond for the OFA and a $5,000.00

On
May 7, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of fraud
from a resident on Old Blounts Creek Road in Chocowinity. The victim reported her debit card stolen and
money removed from her bank account. The
Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted

On April 16, 2010, the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of fraud from a Washington
resident. The victim reported that a
suspicious charge appeared on their home phone bill. The victim contacted the phone company and
discovered who made the suspicious charge.
The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence, and
conducted interviews. On

On May 9, 2010, the
Washington Police Department received information that a subject was entering
Beaufort County with illegal drugs. The
information was forwarded to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, and Deputies
set up stationary surveillance in order to locate the suspect. Using the information supplied by the Washington Police
Department, Cpl. Jeremy Landeck performed a traffic stop on a Chevy truck
operated by Frederick Deprice Johnson Sr. at the intersection of Highway 264
West and Wharton Station Road. Cpl.
Landeck spoke with Johnson and observed suspicious behavior. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and
Cpl. Landeck located three plastic baggies containing a substance consistent
with cocaine and two plastic baggies containing marijuana. Frederick Johnson Sr. was arrested and charged with Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On May 06, 2010, Investigators with the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit executed a Search Warrant at the Tan
Zone located at 150 West 15th Street in Washington. Investigators arrested the owner, Julia
Jefferson, 44 years of age, of 6003 Christian School Road in Pantego and her
son, Michael Stocks, 20 years of age, of 6003 Christian School Road in Pantego. Jefferson
was charged with three (3) counts of
Conspiracy to Traffic in Opium and three (3) counts of Trafficking in Opium. Stocks was charged with six (6) counts of Trafficking in Opium. Their
arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving complaints that prescription pain
pills were being sold and distributed from the Tan Zone. Investigators started purchasing Hydrocodone,
Oxycodone and Fentanyl Patches from Jefferson and Stocks while they were
working at the Tan Zone. Investigators searched the Tan Zone and found Hydrocodone, Fentanyl Patches, Methadone, a plastic snorting straw containing white residue, a drink can converted to a crack cocaine smoking pipe and marked money that the Investigators used to make purchases of Hydrocodone and Fentanyl Patches from the Tan Zone. Jefferson
was confined to the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 secured
bond. Stocks was
confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $80,000.00 secured

On May 04, 2010, Investigators with the
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit executed a Search Warrant at 595
South Seventh Street in Aurora.
Investigators and Canine Elza found a small quantity of marijuana. Investigators
arrested Curtis Myers, 40 years of age, of 595 South Seventh Street in Aurora
and Vennda Carter, 44 years of age, of 595 South Seventh Street in Aurora. Myers was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver
Cocaine. Carter was charged with Possession of Marijuana. Their arrest stemmed from Investigators
making purchases of crack cocaine from Myers. Myers was
confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $5,000.00 secured
bond. Carter was confined in the

On April 29, 2010, Deputies responded to a Chocowinity business in reference to a disorderly person. Deputy Andre Ray spoke with the suspect, who was reportedly under the influence of a controlled substance, at the scene. During a vehicle search, Deputy Ray seized two baggies containing a white powdery substance and assorted drug paraphernalia from a hand bag. Deputy Ray arrested Jill Marie Gaylor, age 34, of Spring Creek Road in Aurora and charged her with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
