Michael Dale Williams

On November 18, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an Attempted Arson that occurred at a residence on Old Blount’s Creek Road in Chocowinity, North Carolina.  A resident reported the suspect attempted to burn the home during a dispute.   The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.  The findings from the investigation were presented to the Beaufort County Grand Jury.
    After reviewing the case, the Grand Jury issued a True Bill of Indictment was issued charging Michael Dale Williams, age 34, of Old Blount’s Creek Road with one count (1) of Attempted First Degree Arson.  Williams was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office on June 24, 2011 and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $10,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Holmes.

On June 20th, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of child abuse that occurred at a home on River Road in Washington.  The victim, a twenty-two month old child, was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital via East Care after sustaining severe head trauma.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and conducted interviews.  Medical records were also reviewed.
    On May 9th, 2011, Lieutenant Jamie Cahoon presented the investigation to the Beaufort County Grand Jury.  A True Bill of Indictment was returned against Samantha Lynn Cutler, age 22, of River Road in Washington, NC.  Cutler was charged with one count of Felony Child Abuse.  On June 14, 2011, Cutler was arrested and transported to the Magistrate’s Office.  She was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond by Magistrate Smith.

On May 17, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny that occurred at a residence on John Small Avenue in Washington, NC.  The victim reported several items stolen including cash and a firearm.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.
    As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained warrants charging Shaquel Collins, age 17, of Camel Drive in Washington, NC; Gerardo Ramirez, age 16, of Sandy Lane in Washington, NC; and Derrick Cannon, age 17, of Jacks Street in Washington, NC with one(1) count each of  Felony Breaking and Entering, one(1) count each of Felony Larceny, and one(1) count each of Larceny of a Firearm.
    Collins was arrested on May 25, 2011 and placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Sadler.  Ramirez was arrested on June 15, 2011 and placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Smith.  Cannon was arrested on June 15, 2011 and placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Smith. Several of the stolen items were recovered from a resale store in Greenville, NC.

On June 10, 2011 at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny at a residence on Vermont Avenue in Washington, NC.  Deputy Thomas Salinas responded to the residence and began an investigation.  After conducting interviews, Salinas arrested Matthew Lane, age 56, of Vermont Avenue and charged him with Felony Breaking and Entering.  Lane was transported to the Magistrate’s Office and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $30,000.00 secured bond.

On June 8, 2011 at approximately 12:48 p.m., Beaufort County Deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity on Highway 33 East near the CCC#1 Road in Chocowinity, NC.  The reporter stated that a vehicle parked on the Sawyer Road and the occupants walked into a wooded area where scrap metal is kept.  Upon arrival, Sgt. Charles Rose searched the wooded area and discovered two suspects in a storage building on the property.  The two white males ran as Sgt. Rose approached.
    Additional Deputies responded to the area and began a search.  The suspect’s vehicle was secured and towed from the scene.  Deputy Lewis Young located one on the suspects on Highway 33 East near Tripp Road attempting to get a ride away from the area.  The suspect was identified as Scott Allen Williams, age 30, of Upper Neck Road in Bayboro and placed under arrest.
    After conducting interviews and collecting evidence, Sgt. Rose applied for and obtained warrants charging Williams and Noah Frank Massengill, age 27, of Wildlife Road in New Bern with Felony Breaking and Entering, Attempted Felony Larceny, and Resisting a Public Officer.  Williams was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $25,000.00 secured bond.  Massengill is still at large.  If you have any information on the whereabouts of Noah Massengill, please call Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at (252)946-7111 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at (252)974-6400.  Callers do not have to give their name to receive a reward.

On June 2, 2011, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit  and Investigators with Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested William Logan Whichard, 18 years of age, of 3028 Whichards Beach Road in Chocowinity, Jon Michael Millaway, 20 years of age, of 1415 Hwy. 33 West in Chocowinity and Danielle Baker, 18 years of age, of 1977 Hwy. 102 in Chocowinity.  They were charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin and Possession of Marijuana.

Their arrest stemmed from Investigators from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office  receiving information that Whichard is involved in the use and distribution of heroin and marijuana.  Investigators have received information that Whichard is getting heroin from a source in Greenville.  Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office conducted surveillance on Whichard.  Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office witnessed Whichard, Millaway and Baker travel to a residence  located in Greenville.  

Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Investigators from  the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.  Together both agencies conducted vehicle stop on Whichard, Millaway and Baker when they departed from the residence in Greenville.  Investigators found four (4) bindles of heroin and  a quantity of marijuana.

Whichard, Millaway and Baker were confined in the Pitt County Detention Center under an $15,000.00 secured bond.

On March 30, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of larceny of a motor vehicle from a residence on Bonnerton Road in Blounts Creek and an attempted fraud at a recycling business on US Hwy 17 in Chocowinity.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and conducted interviews.
    On May 25, 2011, Investigator Wesley Waters applied for and obtained warrants charging Cody Vance Jones, age 20, of NC Hwy 33 in Blounts Creek, NC and Byron Xavier Moore, age 20, of Bonnerton Road in Blounts Creek, NC with one count each of Felony Larceny of Motor Vehicle and one count each of Attempted Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.  
    On June 3, 2011, Jones was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $3,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Bruce Smith.  Moore is still at large.

     On June 1, 2011, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit executed a Search Warrant at David Isner’s residence located at 1117 Hwy. 171 in Washington.  Investigators found marijuana plants growing in a tomato garden, marijuana drying inside the residence and a plastic bag containing marijuana.  Investigators seized a total of 522 grams of marijuana .

Isner  was charged with Manufacturing Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Isner was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under an $2,500.00 secured bond.
