On October 5, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny that occurred at a residence on Bay City Road in Aurora NC.  The victim reported several items stolen including a safe and firearms.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.

            As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained warrants charging Anthony Bragg, age 19, of Bay City Road in Aurora; Markeem Clark, age 21, of Bay City Road in Aurora; and Maurice Jenkins, age 20, of Highway 33 East in Edward with one(1) count each of  Felony Breaking and Entering, one(1) count each of Felony Larceny, one(1) count each of Larceny of a Firearm, and one(1) count each of Safecracking.  Bragg was also charged with Larceny of Chose in Action, Forgery on an Instrument, and Uttering a Forged Instrument. 

            Bragg turned himself in on December 30, 2009 and was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Smith.  Clark and Jenkins are still at large. On November 16, 2009 at 5:37 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an arson and a sexual assault at a residence on Highway 32 North in Washington, NC.  Deputies and Investigators responded to the scene, conducted interviews, and collected evidence.  On December 29, 2009, Investigator Rob Voliva applied for and obtained a warrant charging Charles Clayton Skelton, age 37, of Edgewater Drive in Grandy, NC with one count of Attempted First Degree Arson.  On December 29, 2009, Skelton was served at the Magistrate’s Office and confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under an $11,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Sadler.  The sexual assault investigation is on-going.

On December 29, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Donald Ramon Moore, 30 years of age, of 4260 Core Point Road in Blounts Creek, Antoinette Jenkins, 26 years of age, of 4260 Core Point Road in Blounts Creek, Clyde Moore, 49 years of age, of 4300 Core Point Road in Blounts Creek Road, Lettisha Williams, 27 years of age, of 2828 West Road in Aurora and Christopher Griekspoor, 18 years of age, of 317 Buck Lane in Vanceboro.

Donald Moore and Antoinette Jenkins were charged with Trafficking in Heroin, Maintaining a Dwelling to Keep a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Clyde Moore and Christopher Griekspoor were charged with Trafficking in Heroin, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Lettisha Williams was charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Their arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving a Crime Stoppers complaint that Donald Moore, Clyde Moore and Antoinette Jenkins were using and selling heroin from 4260 Core Point Road in Blounts Creek.  Investigators executed a Search Warrant and found 42 dosage units of heroin, digital scales and plastic baggies used to repackage heroin.

Donald Moore and Antoinette Jenkins were currently out on bond for Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin, Maintaining a Dwelling to Keep a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon from when Investigators arrested them on July 30, 2009.  Donald Moore and Antoinette Jenkins were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $500,000.00 secured bond.

Christopher Griekspoor was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $30,000.00

Clyde Moore and Lettisha Williams were detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $25,000.00.

On December 27, 2009 at approximately 2:00 pm, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an accidental shooting at 182 Bayside Drive in Chocowinity N.C.  Upon arrival, Deputies located a 13 year old male that had a gunshot wound to the torso.  The juvenile was transported to Beaufort County Hospital and later transferred to Pitt Memorial Hospital.

            The Sheriff’s Office has begun an investigation into the incident.  A .22 caliber rifle was collected at the scene.

On December 14, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit served arrest warrants on Clifton Junior Moore, 33 years of age, of 4120 Hudson Cross Roads in Greenville.  Moore was charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 Moore’s arrest stemmed from Investigators making undercover purchases of cocaine from Moore.

Moore was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,500.00 secured bond.

On October 29, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny that occurred on Magnolia School Road in Washington, NC.  The victim reported several items stolen including a safe and firearms.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.

            As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained warrants charging Jodeci Boomer, age 17, of Sand Pointe Drive in Washington, NC with one(1) count of  Felony Breaking and Entering, one(1) count of Felony Larceny, one(1) count of Larceny of a Firearm, and one(1) count of Safecracking.  Patricia Godley, age, 36, was also charged with one(1) count of Felony Possession of Stolen Property.

            Godley was arrested on December 09, 2009 and was released on a $5,000.00 unsecured bond set by Magistrate Mills.  Boomer is still at large. On November 14, 2009 at approximately 4:48 a.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a home invasion that occurred at a residence on Greystone Road in Chocowinity, NC.  Deputies and Investigators responded to the scene, conducted interviews, and collected evidence.  According to the victim, two black men entered the residence armed with a long gun and demanded money. 

On November 25, 2009, Lieutenant Jamie Cahoon applied for and obtained a warrant charging Desmond Montrea Myers, age 21, of Cooper Street in Washington, NC with one count of First Degree Burglary, one count of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon,  and one count of Larceny after Breaking and Entering.  On December 9, 2009, Myers was arrested and transported to the Magistrate’s Office.  Myers was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond set by Magistrate J. Mills.  The second robber is still at large.

On December 8, 2009 at approximately 9:58 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an Armed Robbery at the Travel Store Number Two on River Road in Washington.  Deputies and Investigators responded to the scene, conducted interviews, and collected evidence.

On December 07, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Allen Montrell Crandall, 28 years of age, of 1455 Stokes Road in Washington.  Crandall was charged with four counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Ecstasy and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 Crandall’s arrest stemmed from Investigators making undercover purchases Ecstasy from Crandall.  Crandall was found to be in possession 50 Ecstasy pills at the time of his arrest.

Crandall was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $30,000.00 secured bond.

On December 01, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit served arrest warrants on Phillippi Gorham, 32 years of age, of 2410 West 5th Street in Washington and James Alonzo Byrd, 34 years of age, of 5729 Belvve Farm Road in Washington.

Gorham was charged with three counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine within 1000 feet of a school.  At the time of Gorham’s arrest he was found to be in Possession of 21.6 grams of crack cocaine.

Byrd was charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  At the time of Byrd’s arrest he was found to be in Possession of two bags of marijuana.

Their arrest stemmed from Investigators making purchases of crack cocaine from Gorham and Byrd.

Gorham was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $40,000.00 secured bond.

Byrd was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center a $18,000.00 secured bond.

            On October 29, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny that occurred on Highway 17 South in Vanceboro, NC.  The report indicated a quantity of scrap steel was stolen.  The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews.  During the investigation, Deputies discovered that the stolen steel was sold at a local recycling business.

            As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained a warrant charging Michael Adams, age 27, of New Road in Washington, NC with one(1) count of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses and one(1) count of Misdemeanor Larceny.  Daniel Rose, age, 30, was also charged with one(1) count of Misdemeanor Larceny.

            Adams turned himself in on December 1, 2009 and was released on a $2,500.00 secured bond set by Magistrate B. Smith.  Rose is still at large.
