On August 3, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny of a motor vehicle from an address in Chocowinity. The owner reported the vehicle was stolen during the night after entering the residence and removed the keys to the vehicle. The vehicle was later located abandoned in Chocowinity. On October 23, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny that occurred at a residence on West Barr Road in Chocowinity. The victims reported hearing noises outside their home during the night. They later discovered their garage had been broken into and items were missing. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and identified suspects.
As a result of information obtained during the investigation, Investigator Robert Gaskins obtained warrants charging John Garrett Mayo, age 16, of Hwy 102 in Chocowinity and William Joseph Wallace, age 18, of VOA Road in Washington with one count each of Second Degree Burglary, one count each of Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and one count each of Larceny of a Firearm. On September 29, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault that occurred on Windley Road in Washington. The victim reported being assaulted in his home at gunpoint by unknown suspects. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, executed a search warrant, and conducted interviews. On March 12th, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of child abuse that occurred at a home on Highway 17 South in Chocowinity. The victim was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital via East Care after sustaining severe head trauma. The Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation and conducted several interviews. Medical records were also reviewed. |
